Sequences and induction in Olympiad mathematics

Feng Zhigang connects common features of sequences and mathematical induction with broader branches of mathematics, using Math Olympiad problems as the point of departure. The book presents these topics as ways to explore relationships across mathematical areas and to engage with challenging problems. Its context is competitive mathematics: the author’s background includes coaching China’s IMO National Team and leading a Shanghai high school whose students have earned IMO gold medals. The description emphasizes mathematical exploration and the challenge of working through difficult questions, rather than outlining a general introduction to mathematics.
