A crown that celebrates curls

Prince Bedhead’s search for a crown that fits turns a familiar royal accessory into a way to celebrate his curly hair. After pastes and potions fail to tame his style, he works with the local tinker on a crown designed to showcase it. The story brings together a child’s concern about being laughed at, a practical problem-solving effort, and a message about embracing what makes someone distinctive. Its rhyming text is described as suited to reading aloud, making the crown—and the hair it frames—the book’s playful center.

Book overview

Actor and author Taye Diggs has returned with his newest picture book that follows a young prince who searches for a crown that fits and celebrates his hair.

What's a prince to do with a do that just won't do?!

Prince Bedhead has always had a tough time controlling his hair. He's tried pastes and potions, but nothing seems to work. Princes are meant to wear crowns! But no crown seems to sit right on his gorgeous flow.

Worried he'll be laughed out of the kingdom without the most perfect crown, he works with the local tinker to create a crown that not only fits on his head, but one that enhances and showcases his sensational curly hair. 'Tis a crown truly fit for a prince, and one that will make his father proud!

Told in bouncing rhyme, Prince Bedhead was made to be read aloud and empower all young readers to embrace everything about them that makes them unique!
