Book overview
A battered kitten shows up at the door. What happens next will melt your heart.
You know that feeling when a stray animal looks up at you with big, hopeful eyes and you just can't say no? That is exactly what happens to Mike when a tiny, injured gray and white kitten appears on his doorstep one fall morning, mouth bleeding and nowhere to go. Mike is not looking for a pet. But Patch, named for the little gray marking on his chin, has other plans.
An Orphaned Cat Named Patch: A True Story follows the real life journey of a scrappy, determined kitten who refuses to give up. Taken in by Mike's gentle chocolate Lab, Ella, Patch finds his forever home and grows into a bold, mischievous, and utterly lovable cat. From his 4:00 a.m. wake-up calls and live animal surprises to his favorite hiding spots in the most unexpected places, Patch keeps Mike on his toes every single day. With warmth, humor, and real photographs, retired school librarian Sherry Troiani captures a bond between a man and his cat that young readers will adore.
Perfect for animal lovers ages 3 to 8, this heartwarming true story teaches children that:
- Every animal deserves a chance at a loving home
