A bilingual Yalda tale of kindness and problem-solving

Built around Yalda, also called Chelleh Night, this bilingual Farsi-English story introduces Nane Sarma, a central figure associated with the festival. When trouble arises with her cotton quilt, she turns to forest creatures for help. The book combines that simple folkloric premise with children’s poems and clear illustrations, placing an Iranian seasonal tradition alongside a cooperative woodland adventure. Its bilingual presentation also keeps both languages present on the page rather than treating the cultural setting as background alone.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Families sharing Farsi and English with children
