Faith expressed through school and community outreach

Hip Hop Charlie centers on a teenage character whose public identity and everyday choices are shaped by sharing Christian teachings. He carries his Bible to school, encourages friends to join him, and is described as remaining committed even when personal safety or feelings might be at stake. The book’s premise connects a youth-focused fictional figure with the author’s background in church and community outreach, including tutoring and Bible teaching for children. Together, these details frame the story around faith in public life, peer influence, and service beyond the church setting.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Teens and young adults interested in Christian-themed fiction.
  • Readers curious about stories of faith expressed through school and community engagement.
  • Those interested in youth outreach and peer-led religious activity.

Book overview

The Holy Spirit later gave me the idea to create a teenaged character built around the phrase "Let Me Tell You about My Jesus" using the letters as a weird acronym to get people's attention. This character would be cool and popular wearing jewelry with these letters. He would carry his Bible everywhere he goes to include school. He would not allow anyone or anything to stop him from sharing the Good News. Moreover, he would not even allow his personal safety and feelings stop him from sharing the Good News. He remained focused on the calling that Jesus Christ had anointed him to do. He trained his friends to do so as well. Thus, Hip Hop Charlie (HHC) was born. Pastor Sammy has nearly forty years of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ in the church and in the community. He works with children through his church's outreach program called, "Kids on Main Street." It is through this ministry that children receive free tutoring, snacks, and the Word of God. In addition, he teaches the Bible at the local community school with the "Good News Club" through "Child Evangelism Fellowship."
