A queer reimagining in rural Tennessee
Rey Terciero recasts the world of Anne of Green Gables through fifteen-year-old Dan, who is sent to live with his grandparents in rural Tennessee. The graphic novel brings together the practical adjustments of farm work and starting high school with Dan’s experience of being queer in a conservative community. Its premise places questions of belonging and identity within the everyday changes of a new home and school, giving this modern reimagining a distinctly contemporary setting.
Good fit for readers who enjoy
- Teens and young adults interested in graphic novels about identity and belonging.
- Readers seeking LGBTQ+ fiction set in a rural community.
- Fans of modern reimaginings of classic stories.
