Sixteen original hymns with texts, tunes, and context

John D. Horman’s collection brings together sixteen original hymns designed for worship and other communal settings. Each selection appears in three forms: as a poetic text, as a congregational hymn with text set into the music, and with brief background notes. The book pairs original words and tunes, using inclusive language and standard hymn meters such as common and long meter. Its musical presentation follows a classic hymn format, with the melody placed at the top of the accompaniment, making the volume a practical resource for engaging both the words and the music of contemporary original hymnody.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Worship leaders and church musicians seeking new congregational hymns
  • Singers interested in inclusive-language hymn texts
  • Those studying or composing hymns in traditional metrical forms
