Dick Hickock and Perry Smith confessed to the first: the November 15, 1959 murder of the Clutter family of four in Holcomb, Kansas. Despite remarkable similarities between the two crimes, Hickock and Smith denied committing the second: the December 19 murder of the Walker family of four in Osprey, Florida.
