Book overview
Just when she thought this Christmas couldn't get any worse...
Instead of celebrating a long-overdue promotion, 50-year-old Erin finds herself fighting to keep her job, dealing with perimenopausal chaos and discovering that her elderly mother, Maeve, has disappeared.
And Maeve is not alone.
She's absconded to France with 17-year-old Jackson - the troubled son of infuriating new neighbour, Theo. With neither runaway answering their phones, and a trail of increasingly viral TikTok videos documenting their journey across France, Erin and Theo have no choice but to set off after them. But chasing two fugitives across Europe in a tiny Smart car was never going to be easy.
As ferry disasters, Christmas chaos and far too much forced proximity push them to breaking point, Erin begins to realise that maybe her mother hasn't lost her mind after all. Maybe Maeve simply wanted to start living again.
And perhaps Erin does too. Because somewhere between the grief they've buried and the unexpected connection growing between them, Erin and Theo might just discover that it's never too late for a second chance.
A Christmas Staris a heartwarming and uplifting novel about family, love and rediscovering yourself after loss, perfect for fans of Jenny Colgan and Beth O'Leary.
