Socialist architecture after Yugoslavia

Socialist architecture after Yugoslavia
Armin Linke’s photographs document buildings across five successor states of the former Yugoslavia: Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, and Serbia. Made with architect Srdjan Jovanovic Weiss, the project focuses on structures left vacant or given new uses after the Socialist Federation of Yugoslavia was dismantled in the early 1990s. The book frames architectural photography as a record of what happened to these sites, connecting the buildings’ present-day condition with a major political and historical change. Its subject is both the built environment and the traces of a vanished federation visible in that environment.
Good fit for readers who enjoy
- For readers interested in architectural photography and industrial subjects.
- For those exploring the built legacy of socialist Yugoslavia and its successor states.
- For students and researchers interested in architecture, photography, or post-Yugoslav history.
