The Troubles, a Heroin epidemic, and the Stardust Tragedy are just some of the subjects touched upon in this book of Poetry which pulls no punches in it's storytelling.
The plain spoken poems are told with "brutal candor" and paint a picture of childhood experiences:
"The verbal promises they make to each other are only worth the paper they were never written on. They tap ash from improvised smokes that are only wooden toothpicks after all."
The challenges of being a new immigrant in a strange country:
"You will have sold your soul once you change your name. Will it be poverty or shame that compels you to stay?"
30 years to Dublin with it's wistful stories, speaks to those from an Irish background or who have been touched by immigration but, it's poetry can be appreciated by anyone.
